The ‘phone call’ celebration has been the topic of discussion ever since Ben Shelton used it after his quarter-final victory at the US Open over fellow American Frances Tiafoe. However, this celebration sparked a huge debate after Novak Djokovic used the same action after he defeated Ben Shelton in the semi-finals of the Tournament.

This gesture by the US Open Champion received mixed reactions from the tennis World. Tennis coach and former player, Darren Cahill came in support of Novak Djokovic, comparing the Serb to Nick Kyrgios. Cahill said, “He’s like Kyrgios. You like Kyrgios, you hate him, I don’t care. On the tour, he brings something different & people will go out & buy a ticket, & watch these guys play.”

Cahill liked Djokovic’s imitation of the young American and said that it was awesome. He further added, “I think the fact that Novak took him up a little bit for his celebrations was awesome.
