David Ferrer is one of the most talented players in Spain in its recent sports history. He helped his country to win three Davis Cup titles in 2008, 2009, and 2011. He won all levels of ATP tournaments, which include the ATP 250, ATP 500, and Masters 1000 tournaments in his career.

He could not win any Grand Slam throughout his career but played in the Final of the French Open in 2013 against Rafael Nadal. In the all-Spanish affair, the King of Clay defeated his Davis Cup teammate in straight sets to clinch his then-8th singles title.

In a recent interview, he named the 2022 Wimbledon champion as his most formidable opponent.

This depends on the characteristics of each player. I never beat Federer, but for me, the feeling was that when Djokovic was good he was the one who made me feel most uncomfortable because he couldn’t hurt him with any of my punches,” he said.

David Ferrer could never defeat the Swiss in his career. He lost 17 matches against him. He managed to defeat the Serb. The tennis sensation won 5 out of 21 encounters between the two players. However, still he considers the Serb as the most difficult player to play against in his career.

And from the way I played, I had the feeling that when he was fine, he couldn’t even beat him in one game,” he added further.

The 8-time Wimbledon champion retired from professional tennis after playing his last match in the 2022 Laver Cup in London. David Ferrer has also retired and is now working in the position of Tournament Director for the Davis Cup. The nine-time Australian Open is still going strong. He won his career’s 6th ATP Finals title, a week ago, and looking forward to playing and winning the 2023 Australian Open.

David Ferrer played in the age when The Big Three- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic were at the peak of their careers. The three players dominated male tennis for a long period.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer share a rivalry that is more than a decade old. Roger Federer started early compared to both the Serb and Rafael Nadal. By the time Novak Djokovic introduced himself on the world stage, the Swiss was already dominating the professional male tennis front.

However, soon after making his appearance at the professional tennis, the Serb gradually improved himself and moved out of the shadow of The King of Clay and the 20-time Grand Slam champion. He made a distinct name for himself, eventually becoming one of the most formidable names in the realm of tennis. The bilateral rivalry between the Spaniard and the Swiss became trilateral when the Serb won the Australian Open in 2008.

Rafael Nadal continued to dominate the French Open while both the former World No.1s shared the trophies of other ATP tournaments and Grand Slams. Soon, all three completed their individual career’s Golden Slams.
