Emma Raducanu, the young Brit who shot to fame with her maiden Grand Slam singles title win at the US Open in 2021 hit another rock bottom when she had to split with Dmitry Tursunov, the former tennis player from Russia who had been associated with the Brit during the North American swing. Tursunov was the fourth coach to end their association with Raducanu in the last fifteen months.

Just after the split with Raducanu still in search of a new coach, Tursunov has been spotted with Belinda Bencic, the 2020 Olympic gold champion as the Swiss was undergoing one of her practice sessions in Guadalajara just ahead of the WTA1000 event which is the final regular WTA event of the year. Tursunov was seen with Bencic can be seen hitting the ball while the former ATP player stands behind the baseline and watches the Swiss practice.

Dmitry Tursunov was the former coach of Anett Kontaveit and it was under the leadership of Tursunov who helped Kontaveit to a brilliant 2021 season and also took her to the World No. 2 spot. Under Tursunov, Raducanu had some remarkable performances where she managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Citi Open followed by reaching the Round of 16 at the Cincinnati Open. She even put up a great performance when she defeated Serena Williams in her final Grand Slam tournament at the US Open.

Raducanu also had made her way into the semi-finals of the Korea Open before she retired from the semifinals citing a left glute injury scare and further withdrew from the WTA1000 event at Guadalajara due to her wrist injury. With this, Raducanu’s chances of a comeback with a better end to the year somewhat conclude as she has only one tournament to play which is the Billie Jean King Cup in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, Raducanu is doing her pre-season training with her trainer Jez Green to improve her fitness after retiring from four matches this season through injury although there is no confirmation regarding the long-term association as the mission for a new coach on board still continues. With inconsistent performances on the Tour, she has fallen out of the Top 50 in the rankings.
