Eugenie Bouchard talks about difficulties after switching to pickleball
Eugenie Bouchard, a former number five WTA player shocked her fans after she switched to pickleball permanently. However, the change is not that easy for the Canadian who recently talked about the challenges of playing pickleball. Bouchard echoed Steffi Graf‘s thoughts who recently tried her hands at the new sport during Pickleball Slam 2.

The Canadian said that having played tennis for twenty years, it is a bit difficult for her to learn pickleball-specific shots. Bouchard also talked about how she is still playing tennis in her head whenever she steps onto the court.
For sure I mean I have been a tennis player. I played tennis for twenty years. And it’s second nature at this point and when I get on the pickle court, even though everything is different, the paddles are different, for me I am like still playing tennis in my head. And so every time we are going to work on a new shot, something that is pickle specific as supposed to tennis, I am like I need to unwire the tennis part of my brain.Eugenie Bouchard said in a recent interview with Dave Fleming.
Bouchard said that not only her brain but her body has also not moved on from tennis yet. The Canadian said that she finds it difficult to create new neurological connections and struggles to transition to what she should be doing on a pickleball court.
The 29-year-old’s statements pretty much align with what Graf said a while back about struggling to stay still while playing pickleball. The former tennis ace said that as she is trained to keep her feet moving while on a tennis court, it becomes difficult to stand and wait for the right time to attack during pickleball.
