Days after the Big-4 reunion gets confirmed, Team Europe suffer a big setback ahead of the 2022 Laver Cup

Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer

Tennis Big-4 of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were confirmed a couple of days ago as the first four members of the 6-man squad of Team Europe for the 2022 Laver Cup. Murray’s debut at the competition along with the return of Djokovic to the squad for the first time since 2018 gave the most awaited news for tennis fans as the four tennis greats will team up with each other for this year’s Laver Cup.

The competition will be held from 23rd to 25th September in the O2 Arena in London and has already started selling tickets in phases. Team Europe however might be forced to not get their desired roster as World No.1 Daniil Medvedev, who has been part of Team Europe, might not be allowed to play in the UK.

With the ban on Russian and Belarusian players by the LTA and Wimbledon this year, the chances of him being allowed for another event are very slim and the chances of seeing the Big-4 with the World No. 1 might be dented for tennis fans hoping to see 2021 US Open champ with the tennis greats and under the watchful eyes of another great Bjorn Borg.

With the war in Ukraine not indicating coming to an end soon, unfortunately, Team Europe might have to keep other options ready in case Medvedev is not allowed for the competition which is confirmed to be held in the very heart of the UK and with both Tours seeing no points on offer at Wimbledon due to the ban, the chances for Medvedev playing in the Laver Cup look slim.
