Rafael Nadal is one of the most legendary players in the history of the sport. The way he approached the game has influenced numerous numbers of players all over the world. However, owing to his injuries in the past few years, the Spaniard’s time in court has been cut short.
In his recent interview with La Sexta, the former World No. 1 opened up about his persistent injuries and his future in the sport.
However, the Spaniard also made a surprising call for his son during the interview. Nadal stated during the interview that he would like his son to play a different sport.
I would prefer him to do another sport. When I say that, it hurts me, because of everything it has given me. If he wants to play tennis, I would support him 100%, but if he plays another sport, the better.Rafa said during the interview
The 22-time Grand Slam title champion became a father in 2022 when his wife, Maria Francisca Perello, gave birth to their son, Rafael Nadal Perello. His son has been spotted with him various times during the Tour.
Rafael Nadal opens up about his upcoming season
Rafa has faced numerous injuries in the past few years. Owing to those injuries and growing age, the Spaniard announced last season that the 2024 season is going to be his last professional tennis season.
In a recent interview, the Spaniard expressed his disappointment over the injuries that hampered his career. For his future, the Spaniard stated that playing in the French Open and the Olympics this season is going to be his main aim.
[Roland Garros] will be one of my goals. I’d like to play at the Olympics as well. It’s not something I can confirm right now, but I hope I will… I think I will.

Even his uncle and longtime coach, Toni Nadal, has expressed his high expectations of Rafa for the French Open.
