World No. 1 Novak Djokovic emphasizes that he will be winning the Nitto ATP Finals 2023. The Serb has had an incredible season this year. The perfect finish to the perfect year will be winning the prestigious year-end finals and that’s exactly what the current World No. 1 has been planning to do. Djokovic has established that he has every intention to do so and will finish the year as the year-end No. 1.

Novak Djokovic had an illustrious season in 2023. He had just been banned from many countries due to the COVID vaccination. Barring Wimbledon, he had not won any other Grand Slam in 2022.

Therefore, he came into the 2023 season with nothing to lose. With a winning mentality, the Serb won three out of four Grand Slams. He lost the Wimbledon title to Carlos Alcaraz, who was the defending champion. Since the Wimbledon final loss, the Serb has been undefeated.

However, his desire to win has still not subsided. The 24-time Grand Slam champion revealed that he intends on winning the Nitto ATP Finals as well. The Serb had lost all humility as he admitted that he was winning the tournament.

If I don't want to be humble and be honest, I'm winning the tournament. If I want to be humble, I'm also winning the tournament.

Djokovic was particular in that, regardless of his tone, he was definitely planning on winning the tournament. He is set to begin his campaign to fulfill his claim with a round-robin match against Holger Rune.

If he wins even a single round-robin match at the year-end finals, he is guaranteed to finish as the year-end No. 1 for a record-extending eighth time. However, considering his streak so far, this seems like the most likely scenario.

Carlos Alcaraz concedes on his desire to snatch back the No.1 spot from Novak Djokovic

Two-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz told ATP Media that he had given up on his goal of finishing the year in the top spot. When he lost his spot at the US Open, the Spaniard was certain that his goal moving forward would be to get back on his throne.

However, as the season proceeded and neared its end, Carlos Alcaraz was not performing at his best level. Struggling with the injury, the Spaniard has not been able to give his best performances. Nevertheless, he still held on to his goal of getting back on top of Novak Djokovic.

But the former World No. 1 had recently revealed that becoming No. 1 this season was no longer his goal. He said:

I'd always said that the fight to finish the year as No.1 was my main goal. Right now, I have pretty much lost it, so it's something I'll try to use to my advantage.

However, he also revealed that these were goals for another day. He is currently focused on enjoying his debut at the ATP Finals this year.
