Drama! Nick Kyrgios takes a dig at Rafael Nadal, refuses to play for getting a time violation against Stefanos Tsitsipas
Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios
After incurring a time violation during his Halle Open match against Stefanos Tsitsipas and refusing to play, Nick Kyrgios made a crack at Rafael Nadal by bringing the match supervisor to court. The Spaniard takes longer between serves, according to the Australian, but he still receives no warnings.
Also, Nick Kyrgios was back at his same old antics again. After dropping the opening set, Kyrgios broke his racquet on the court out of frustration, which is something he does rather frequently these days. The Greek’s first-set tiebreak triumph sparked a furious reaction, which was greeted with retribution. The crowd in the Owl arena didn’t seem to favour his behaviour as well.

The 26-Year-Old also got a time violation warning for making Stefanos Tsitsipas, who was serving, wait. After this, Kyrgios walked to his bench and sat down with Tsitsipas serving at 0-2 30-0. The Australian went on a rant at the umpire, complaining about how long players like Rafael Nadal took to return while avoiding penalties for doing so, saying he was only strolling to retrieve his towel.
“I can’t go to my towel? I waited so many times for Rafa. I’m statistically the fastest player on tour, so I’m sorry, I have to go to my towel. My hands are wet, my hands are wet,” he told Timo Janzen, protesting by sitting on his bench and summoning the ATP supervisor to the court.
