Gael Monfils registers a huge victory as he fixed his spot in the Round of 16 at the Indian Wells.

Gael Monfils, the French ace, posed a mighty comeback on Monday to seal his spot in the Round of 16. Coming from a set down, the Frenchman gave it his all to see another day at the Indian Wells.
Coming off a great win against Hubert Hurkacz, the Frenchman was shining in form, as he was en route to record one of his best runs of the season so far. He was up against Britain’s Cameron Norrie, and there was the added pressure of starting the day off.
Despite this, Gael Monfils recorded one of the season’s biggest matches and started the day with a bang. Both the players did not give an inch, as they took the match to the third and final set, crossing the three-hour mark. However, it was the Frenchman who came back from a set to emerge victorious.
Monfils let out an enormous roar of both relief and excitement as he sweated it out on the desert. The audience also gave a standing ovation to Monfils, who put up a hell of a show. He also received an Instagram Story from his wife, Elina Svitolina, appreciating the fight.
“What a fight” posted Svitolina, as she is set to play one of the closing matches of the day. A tremendous day for the couple, as both have the chance to make it to the Round of 16, and extend their time in the tournament.

On Monday, Monfils recorded one of the most thrilling matches of the tournament so far. The French ace beat Cameron Norrie for a spot in the last 16 at the Indian Wells.
Coming back from a set down and 0-3, the 37-year-old fought his way to the third set, before closing it out in style. Monfils won the match 6(5)-7,7-6(5),6-3 as he let out a roar of triumph. He did his iconic celebration as the crowd gave the man a standing ovation and continuously applauded him for an amazing match.
With this, Monfils makes it to the Round of 16, where he is set to take on Casper Ruud. Another huge thriller is in the making, as both the players are set to fight it out for a spot in the quarter-finals.
