Australian tennis professional Ellen Perez made a dig at the WTA following their ‘scheduling disaster’. The complaints against the premium event at Cancun seem to be never-ending. With the Billie Jean King Cup approaching the horizon, the players are expected to travel to Seville if they wish to represent their nation. However, keeping in mind the scheduling of both tournaments, this seems nearly impossible for players who are to play in the finale of the WTA Finals.
The WTA Finals at Cancun seem to be a product of a string of bad decisions. With the skies of Mexico pouring on account of their monsoon, plays are constantly getting disrupted.

However, their problems started way before the tournaments were underway and players had to worry about the weather. Merely a few days before the start of the tournament, the stadium was not completely constructed. Taking place on the grounds of a luxury resort at Cancun, the courts had to be constructed from scratch. However, the delay in building the stadium was met with distinct disappointment from the players, since they could not get a feel of the court beforehand.
However, trouble seems to constantly find the tournament. Australia is set to face Slovakia in the group stages tomorrow. However, reaching this match seems to be impossible for Perez, considering her finale is scheduled on the same day. While her opponent Laura Siegemund is also expected to appear at the tournament, Germany does not have its match till Thursday. This will give the German ample time to reach the event.
Ellen Perez took to Twitter (now called X) to express her disapproval of the ‘disastrous’ scheduling.
Anyone got a private jet and want to fly me from Cancun to Seville tomorrow night to make it in time for BJKC Tuesday 10am match.
She also emphasized that she was not at all impressed by the scheduling disaster.
Anyone got a private jet and want to fly me from Cancun to Seville tomorrow night to make it in time for BJKC Tuesday 10am match. Really not impressed with this scheduling disaster. Why do I have to be punished for this ?

Ellen Perez set to compete at the final match at the WTA Finals
Australian Ellen Perez along with doubles partner Nicole Melichar-Martinez were eighth seeded in the premium season-ender. However, they still managed to reach the finals of the event. They are set to face Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva in the decider.

Her path to the finals was not easy. Being the last-seeded team, all their opponents had better statistics this year. However, against all odds, they made it to the finals. Nevertheless, they have qualified for their final match at Cancun, where they will gun for one of the more prestigious titles on the tour.
While the duo have had a good run at the season-ender, so have their opponents. Seeded at a good sixth place, they did not make it to the final without struggle. Both teams will need to play a good game if they wish to win the title.
