2021 US Open Champion Emma Raducanu has attracted a lot of negative criticism in her direction after she changed over five coaches in a short span of two years. She has had a tough season on tour this year, mostly plagued by injuries.
Talking about how her logical reasoning and proactive nature are the reasons she frequently changes coaches, Emma Raducanu stated, “I ask my coaches a lot of questions. On certain occasions, they haven’t been able to keep up with the questions I’ve asked, and maybe that’s why it ended. It’s something I’ve always done. I keep provoking and asking questions to coaches and challenging their thinking as well.”
In an interview, Emma Raducanu opened up about how she is not someone who will blindly follow her coach without reasoning with them. Speaking about this, she further added,” I’m not someone that you can just tell me what do and I’ll do it; I need to understand why and then I’ll do it.” (H/T: BBC Radio 4)
Talking about how she prioritizes her brain game more than her physical game, Emma mentioned, “I think maybe I shape and frame the way I train and approach certain decisions differently, and I think it does give me an advantage because I’m not necessarily the biggest hitter, the strongest, or the strongest or run the fastest but I think I can use my brain in ways that can give me an advantage.”

Emma Raducanu will play at an exhibition event in Macau
Emma Raducanu has been suffering from injuries ever since she won the US Open in 2021. She recently withdrew from the Billie Jean King Cup as well in order to recover entirely from a recent surgery that she had undergone.
The Briton will next feature in an exhibition event in Macau, where she will be aiming to make a comeback to the sport. Emma Raducanu has been making some progress in her fitness, as she frequently shares pictures on her social media profile where she is seen hitting the gym on a regular basis.
The 2021 US Open winner will look to make a strong comeback in the 2024 season after a long injury-plagued season. She is highly motivated to be back on court as soon as possible and is spending her time preparing to do just that.
