One of the main aspects of tennis is the right coaching for the players. From young ones to senior pros, all need good coaches. Often, coaches are hailed for their player’s performance on the court. However, in recent times, coach Dmitry Tursunov hasn’t really had many things go his way. His coaching stints have not really gone that well.
Tursunov is a retired Russian tennis player. He retired in 2017 and since then has taken up coaching as a profession. However, not a lot has gone as per plan during his coaching stints. The two famous stints of the Russian were with Brit Emma Raducanu and Estonian Anett Kontaveit. Both players did perform particularly well under the coaching of Tursunov.
However, the more interesting part of both stints was that both players got badly struck with injuries in that period. Kontaveit strained her back to the extent that she had to forcefully retire, recently citing the fact that her back would not let her continue to play the sport at a high level. On the other hand, Raducanu has also been away from the tour for a while now due to multiple injuries and continues to recover.
It is an intriguing pattern, and the fact is that these stints with Tursunov haven’t gone well for both WTA stars. This pattern was found out by WTA ace Daria Kasatkina‘s girlfriend, Natalia Zabiiako. Zabiiako commented, “So effective that after several months of working with him, everyone gets injured. For more than a year, at best, he does not work with anyone. I think Anett is extremely ‘thankful’ to him. Oh yeah, and he’s a s**t man.”
Twitter blames Dmitry Tursunov for his players’ injuries

Kasatkina’s girlfriend put her observations out and fans were quick to notice this pattern too and couldn’t help but comment on it. They have sympathy for both Kontaveit and Raducanu for their misfortunes. Fans also believe it’s not the right deal to work with Tursunov after such experiences. Have a look at some of the tweets-
Kontaveit has unfortunately left the tour as she felt pain not only on the court but also off it. Raducanu will hope that she can recover soon from the injury issues and get back to playing some solid tennis. Her fans still patiently wait for her return as it has been quite some time since she last competed. Her young age helps her still find time to get to the top of the sport and she would love that.
