Coco Gauff, Emma Raducanu
On a quest to revive her career after miserable returns from 2022, Emma Raducanu could not have expected another poor start. The 20-year-old lost to American teenager Coco Gauff in the second round of the Australian Open after putting up a competitive show. The latest defeat broke the heart of Raducanu as well as her fans.
Though she was handed a tough draw in the tournament 2021 US Open champion was expected to put up some fight. During the match, she seemed to suffer from an issue with her stomach which made matter worse for her. In the post-match press conference, she was asked about the issue but Raducanu preferred not to give any specific answer.
“Obviously I’ve just got a lot of work to do from here and just looking forward,” she said. “I just have to review the body right now. I’ve had some niggles in the past few months, and I just need to get that sorted, train, and then we’ll see after that,” Raduccanu added. “But I’m actually just looking forward to putting in the work, and I feel, as I said before, I’m putting a good system in place, and I’m really buying into and trusting the work that I’m doing with Sebastian and the rest of the team,” the 20-year-old continued.
In the end, Raducanu seemed hopeful about the bright prospects ahead. “So, yeah, I’m feeling good and confident that in six months’ time, I know it’s not going to be, like, the finished product, but hopefully I would have made strides,” she expressed.

Emma Raducanu’s bad luck due to injuries continues

The bad phase of Emma Raducanu’s career right after her 2021 US Open triumph is not looking to depart soon. The British 20-year-old’s fitness has once again become a talking point after her disastrous last year. She suffered a wrist injury last September and was out of court for a couple of months.
Earlier this year in Auckland when she was looking to make things right she rolled her ankle and left the court in tears. For her fans, this was a heartbreaking sight. With the latest injury, her participation in the season’s first Grand Slam came into question for some time.
But leaving the injury concern behind Raducanu made a great start to the Australian Open with a convincing victory in the first round. Things looked good for her before taking a bad turn once again. In the coming months, Raducanu will need to find a solution to all her troubles if she wants to get back to the top.
