Tennis fans have suggested that British star Emma Raducanu should change her nationality to get back to form. The former US Open champion has been heavily criticized by the media, especially her country’s press about her depleting form since her triumph in New York in 2021.
Raducanu, who is yet to go past the second round of the four tournaments she has featured in recent months, has been struggling for a comeback momentum after months of injury setbacks. Despite not winning matches, the star has always gotten sponsorship deals and endorsements which has fueled the critics to accuse her of her bad form.

After her recent first-round exit at the Qatar Open, a fan suggested on X that changing nationality would ease the pressure on her. The tweet read,
If I was Emma Raducanu I’d be tempted to change my nationality to escape the nonsense British press and public. Unreasonably high expectations, zero patience, and constant rage-for-clicks.She deserves space and time to develop on her terms.
However, other fans reacted that Raducanu’s sponsorship deals were a result of her nationality and that her early US Open victory opened the door to fame and criticism.
With attention more on Emma Raducanu any time she plays, she has to find a way to improve on the court. Perhaps, as she pointed out rightly during an interview with Sky Sports, that her struggle is lack of enough practice due to the many off-court events she attends.
Emma Raducanu willing to change practice after early exit
Following the early Qatar Open exit, Emma Raducanu revealed that she will practice more on the outdoor court. The British succumbed to a shocking defeat against World No.30 Anhelina Kalinina 0-6, 6(8)-7.
In the first set of the contest, Emma struggled to cope with the power of Anhelina Kalinina’s ground shot. Misfiring her forehands in a horrible that saw her gain no points after the first set. However, in the second set, she fought back, forcing the set to a tie-break before Kalinina edged with an excellent serve.

Honestly, I think I need to practice training outside a bit more because it’s very different and also the light, conditions, shadows – it’s really hard to kind of see the ball, I found towards the end--When the tennis isn’t there, you have to at least try to fight and I think I did that in the second set.Raducanu told Sky Sports
The Briton now has enough time to practice and rest properly before the Indian Wells Open on March 6 and the Miami Open on March 18.
