Emma Raducanu suffered a huge injury setback last week, as she has been ruled out of the French Open and Wimbledon due to a hand and ankle injury. The 2021 US Open champion has been receiving some kind messages from fellow players on tour, who have wished her a speedy recovery. However, the 20-year-old fell prey to fake news, which claimed that Carlos Alcaraz dedicated his 2023 Madrid Open semifinal victory to her.

Carlos Alcaraz has looked unstoppable during the ongoing clay court season after he reached the finals of the 2023 Madrid Open on Friday. The Spaniard looks well on course to defend his title in Madrid, as he faces Jan-Lennard Struff in the finals on Sunday.

Several false quotes on Carlos Alcaraz’s reaction to Emma Raducanu’s injury have been doing the rounds on social media recently. In the dummy news, the 2022 US Open champion claimed that he dedicated his semifinal victory over Borna Coric to Emma Raducanu, and wished her a speedy recovery. Moreover, he also wanted to play Mixed Doubles with the 20-year-old once she is back on the court.

Emma Raducanu was left flattered by Carlos Alcaraz’s kind words. However, little did she know that the words were nothing but a fake narrative spread by the media. She re-shared the post on her social media with a couple of cute emojis. She deleted the post moments later when she realized she fell prey to the fake news.

Emma Raducanu has been struggling on and off with her hand injury for the past year. She underwent minor surgeries on both her hands, while her ankle issues continued to trouble her. The Brit confirmed her absence from the 2023 French Open and Wimbledon, as she hopes to return to practice towards the end of the summer.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz has been in a league of his own during the past couple of weeks. After claiming the Barcelona Open title, the Spaniard is now eyeing his second consecutive title in Madrid. The 2022 US Open champion has now won 20 straight matches in Spain and will look to extend his winning streak when he faces Jan-Lennard Struff in the finals on Sunday.
