British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu has taken coaching to the next level with an extraordinary lesson using new technology. Despite being on a training camp in Abu Dhabi, the former US Open winner appeared as a live 3D hologram in London to give a personalized coaching session to two young tennis players.
Raducanu‘s innovative lesson came as a complete surprise to 14-year-old Sam Clague and 12-year-old T’nae Diamond Paisley, who were in London while Raducanu was over 4,000 miles away. As part of her promotion work for Vodafone, the world No 85 delivered the live tennis lesson in real time over Vodafone’s 5G network using innovative 3D holographic technology.
A 5G hologram of Raducanu appeared on the court at the All England Club’s Community Tennis Centre, allowing her to provide a personal coaching session to the youngsters. Raducanu was able to watch the youngsters hit tennis balls live before giving advice and tips on their technique. The youngsters had the chance to ask their tennis idol questions and capture a hologram selfie with her.
Raducanu, who is Vodafone’s Play Your Way to Wimbledon ambassador, said, “The next generation of tennis starts with the future generation of players. Coaching Sam and T’nae in the first-ever 5G hologram lesson only scratches the surface with this type of technology and hopefully, it means coaches will be able to train the next Wimbledon champion wherever they are in the world. It was great to be able to see the kids and be able to do this from 4,000 miles away with 5G, I think the connection was really cool.“
Raducanu promotes personalized coaching experience through partnership with Vodafone
Raducanu has quickly become a household name after her incredible victory at the 2021 US Open. Her win not only made her the first British woman in 44 years to win a Grand Slam singles title but also attracted a host of sponsorship deals and partnerships.
One of these partnerships is with Vodafone, through their ‘Play your Way to Wimbledon’ grassroots event. As Vodafone’s Play Your Way to Wimbledon ambassador, Raducanu is inspiring the next generation of tennis players by promoting the use of technology to deliver personalized coaching experiences.
Raducanu‘s use of 3D holographic technology to deliver a coaching session over Vodafone’s 5G network is just one example of how technology can revolutionize the way tennis coaching is delivered. With the ability to connect coaches and players from all over the world, this technology has the potential to make tennis coaching more accessible and affordable for everyone.
Raducanu’s success both on and off the court has shown that she is a true champion and an inspiration to the next generation of tennis players. With her innovative use of technology, she is helping to pave the way for the future of tennis coaching.
