British tennis player Emma Raducanu is reportedly working with her childhood coach, Nick Cavaday, ahead of her comeback, according to The Times. She last appeared in the Stuttgart Open in April and has had three injuries since then.

The 21-year-old will finally make her comeback at the Auckland Open in January before heading into the Australian Open, which is her ultimate goal at the moment.

Earlier in 2023, Nick Cavaday left his job at the Loughborough junior academy run by the Lawn Tennis Association and has worked with a promising junior, Ranah Stoiber. In between, he also worked with British Slovenian Aljaz Bedene and Dom Inglot, who is a Davis Cup player who has now retired.

Emma Raducanu first met Nick Cavaday at LTA’s (Lawn Tennis Association) High Performance Centre in Bromley, where he worked as the head coach from 2011 to 2014.

The two have been practicing together at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton since last week. It is currently not known whether Nick Cavaday will accompany Raducanu to the 2024 Australian Open.

However, this is the first time that the Brit has tried to assemble a support team for her tour to Australia. She has reportedly also added Somdev Devvarman to her team as her new hitting partner

With less than 13 days left until the commencement of the Auckland Open, Emma Raducanu does not have much more time to prepare for her comeback.

She postponed her comeback on several occasions in the past, and it will finally happen now. It is of utmost importance that the Brit perform well in the tournament to gain match fitness and confidence ahead of the 2024 Australian Open.

Emma Raducanu parted ways with Sebastian Sachs earlier this year

Emma Raducanu has had a record of changing coaches very frequently, and that itself sums up the erratic condition of her career in the past few years. If Nick Cavaday is added to her team, he will be her sixth coach in the past two years, which speaks for itself.

Raducanu has appointed Sebastian Sachs as her coach ahead of the 2023 Australian Open, but they parted ways in January itself, while she was still recovering from her three surgeries.

I really like Seb, I think that we've been doing some great work. He's very objective and really experienced, actually. I just love the way that we're working together and I really hope it lasts.
Raducanu wrote back then

Her team said that the decision was mutual and that it was solely taken because Emma Raducanu could not do any work for several months. They said that Emma and Sebastian have a great relationship.
