Tennis sensation Emma Raducanu has been out of action for around eight months, having last played at the Stuttgart Open in April. She has since struggled with injuries and after several surgeries, she is still unsure about making her return to the court in January. But the surprising news that came up recently was about the huge paychecks she has been receiving despite her involvement in the tours.
In a chart released by Forbes, it was learned that Raducanu had received more money than some of the champions of Grand Slams in the meantime. She even collected more salaries than Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka and World No. 5 Jessica Pegula. Sabalenka was one of the most consistent players this year and also dethroned Swiatek for the World No. 1 spot in the WTA rankings but still couldn’t collect as much as the Brit.
The former US Open champion failed to make it to a single final this year and despite having played last way back in April, she was fourth in the list of the highest-earning women’s sport stars. She could only earn $238k in prize money but collected $15m from her sponsorship and endorsement deals with Dior, Porsche, British Airways, and HSBC.
How did other tennis stars do alongside Emma Raducanu in the Forbes list:
Emma Raducanu was not the only one on the Forbes list, rather she was accompanied by World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and World No. 2 Coco Gauff. The Polish star has earned a total revenue of about $9.9 million from the on-court prize money and a total of $14m off the court from the sponsorship deals. On the other hand, Gauff came off big in the last few months of the calendar year winning three titles in three months.
After a bad start to the year, she went on to capture the entire American tour winning the Citi Open, the Cincinnati Open, and lastly, the most-awaited US Open title that handed her a lucrative paycheck.
She earned a total revenue of about $6.7m million from the on-court prize money and a total of $15m off the court from the endorsement deals.
