British tennis ace Emma Raducanu had to break no sweat in her opening-round match at the 2024 Australian Open as she beat Shelby Rogers in straight sets on Tuesday. It took only an hour and sixteen minutes for Raducanu to beat Rogers. The 2021 US Open champion won the match 6-3, 6-2.

Raducanu started the match with a forehand unforced error but soon recollected herself and won three points on the trot to go 40-15 in the first game. She then lost a point due to a double fault but did not let the lead slip. Raducanu sealed the first game as Shelby Rogers made an unforced error.

While Shelby Rogers staged a brief comeback, winning the second game, Emma Raducanu was quick to stamp her authority by claiming three points on the trot. Rogers then upped her game to win two back-to-back points before Raducanu decided to close it up with a dominant show in the last game and winning the first set with a scoreline of 6-3.

The Briton tennis ace continued her dominance in the second set as well but it was not an easy start for the 21-year-old. Emma Raducanu was quick to win a point but Shelby Rogers was in no mood to let the Briton walk away with an easy win. Rogers kept coming back after every point won by Raducanu.

This meant Emma Raducanu had two break points but she could not convert them with Rogers winning the next one. In the end, American made an unforced error which helped Raducanu win the first game in the second set. The second game was also claimed by the Briton but not before several long rallies and back-and-forth points for the two players.

Shelby Rogers finally won a game when she completely dominated Raducanu. Rogers landed two forehand winners while two unforced errors from Raducanu also helped. Nevertheless, Emma kept the lead with herself by claiming the next two games. Despite Shelby Rogers getting a consolation win in the seventh game, Raducanu walked away with an easy win.

Raducanu looked extremely pleased with the win as she walked off the court with a wide smile on her face. She will next face Yafan Wang in the second round.
