2021 US Open winner Emma Raducanu returned on tour after spending 8 months on the sidelines due to an injury. Though she has not been able to win that many matches in the season, Raducanu is happy with her progress and is focussing on herself rather than the tournament.
Fortunately, the Brit received another wildcard entry into a tournament. She got a free pass to the main round of the Indian Wells and is one step closer to making the most out of this opportunity. Raducanu was up against Rebeka Masarova in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, and easily won the match in straight sets to advance to the next.

Having started great, she got an early double break to win the first set, and similarly, won the second set. She beat the Spaniard 6-2,6-3 to advance to the second round of the tournament. However, this is usually where the challenge starts for Raducanu, as she hasn’t been able to pass the second round of any tournament so far.
Now, the Brit takes on the experience of Dayana Yastremska in the next round, as she looks to break the curse and have at least one good run in a tournament.
Emma Raducanu celebrates in delight after dominating performance in the first round of the Indian Wells
Returning star Emma Raducanu celebrated her first-round win at the Indian Wells, after an amazing display of shots to win the match. With over 78% of points on her second serves, the Brit beat her opponent in straight sets to seal the win.

Pumping the air, Raducanu expressed her delight as she soaked in her first win at the 2024 Indian Wells tournament. Now, she takes on Yastremska for the spot in the third round. The former US Open winner has had much success in Indian Wells, and she hopes to continue that record.
However, the draw only gets harder for the Brit, who has to play her best tennis to try and survive in the game. Although she is not too concerned about the tournaments this year, Raducanu wants to improve herself and play good tennis. All eyes will be on the 21-year-old to see if she can break the second-round curse and move on to the next.
