Young British prodigy Emma Raducanu was one of the youngest players from Britain to win the US Open. Back in 2021, she achieved this incredible feat, and since then, she has not been able to replicate the same performance. Her 2023 run was also cut short due to a recurring wrist injury that has kept her out of tennis since April.

Recently, the ASB Classic awarded the youngster a wildcard for the Auckland Tour, where Raducanu will make her official return after several months. In this tournament last year, the former US Open player turned her ankle, forcing her to withdraw and get surgery done.

This saw her ranking drop to over 250. However, with a protected ranking, she can compete, but the ASB gave her a wildcard entry so she can directly go to New Zealand without the need to qualify.

However, it is still yet to be known if Australia will do the same. Unless the Grand Slam organizers do not offer her a wildcard entry, the 21-year-old has to undergo the qualifiers or hope that a dozen players withdraw from the Slam.

Emma Raducanu’s name is missing from the Australian Open entry list.

British sensation Emma Raducanu leaves the whole tennis world in suspense after her name is not among the list of players taking part in the 2024 Australian Open.

The 21-year-old was unable to cross the cut-off mark for the Australian Open direct entry even with her protected rank and now has to hope to get one of the four wildcard entries left. She has been seen practicing well and making good progress with her injuries.

However, the Brit also withdrew from the exhibition match, which was supposed to be her comeback.

Raducanu pulled out of the Macau Tennis Masters exhibition to fully recover before playing again. With this in mind, tennis enthusiasts doubt her possible comeback at the Australian Open, but she will surely play in Auckland after receiving a wildcard entry. She was restricted to only nine matches in 2023 and would look to make a comeback to remember.

As one of the promising youngsters, Raducanu can rise the ranks if she is fully fit and may seem like a threat in the future. With other youngsters on the tour, she will also look to make her place known after a year.
