Eugenie Bouchard, a Canadian tennis player, recently reacted humorously at the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were denied access to Air Force One. The ex-Duke and Duchess of Sussex had sought to accompany US President Joe Biden on the official plane on their return to the United States after attending Queen Elizabeth‘s burial in the United Kingdom. However, the White House declined their request, which surprised many.
Bouchard took to social media to share a screenshot of the news report as well as her thoughts on the topic. “This can’t be real,” wrote the 29-year-old with laughing emojis, echoing the feelings of many who were taken aback by this rather funny situation.
The celebrity couple has been no stranger to challenging situations with the British Royal Family. Ever since they distanced themselves from royal duties, they have faced apparent boycotts from the institution, particularly Meghan. These actions became evident when she was not invited to Prince Philip’s funeral and did not attend the Coronation of Charles following the Queen’s passing. The couple’s decision to step back from the royal office came amid rumors of Meghan facing racism from within the family.
These conflicting situations are common between the couple and the royal family, but it is surprising to see the US Government also dipping their hands in the conflict. It is indeed a piece of funny and weird news that the Canadian player conveyed through her Instagram story.

Eugenie Bouchard will have to play the qualifiers for Canadian Open

Eugenie Bouchard recently competed in the Wimbledon qualifying rounds but was eliminated in the first round by 13th seed Greet Minnen, therefore ending her grass court season. She made significant noise by reaching the final of the All-England Club in 2014, only to be defeated by Petra Kvitova in a crucial match by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Despite her recent elimination in the Wimbledon qualifiers, Bouchard’s performance in Berlin demonstrated her tenacity, as she defeated Kimberly Birrell in the first round.
Despite anticipation that Bouchard might receive a wild card entry to compete in the main draw of the tournament, the organizers have made a different decision. They have chosen to include local players Leylah Fernandez, Bianca Andreescu, and Rebecca Marino, along with the return of Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki. As a result, Bouchard will need to go through the qualifiers in order to secure a spot in the Canadian Open.
