“Forget Margaret Court or Steffi or Evert” Ex-Coach Rick Macci shockingly dismisses the ‘Greats of the game’ and terms Venus Williams as the ‘second GOAT’

Rick Macci and Venus Williams
Venus Williams, the 7-time Grand Slam champion is one of the flag bearers of women’s tennis who has inspired millions around the world. She has won 49 singles WTA titles and stands first on the list of the most singles titles by an active player in the Open era.
Rick Macci, the former tennis coach of the Williams sisters during an exclusive interview with FirstSportz, made a shocking revelation about the 41-year-old tennis champion as he believed that she would have gone on to win many more Grand Slam titles if she hadn’t faced Serena Williams who has the record for most singles major titles in the Open era.
He said “Out of the 31 times they played, Serena won 19 while Venus won 12. So no one beat Serena Williams more than Venus Williams. If there weren’t Serena, Venus would’ve had 40 grand slams. I really believe, Venus Williams is the second-greatest female tennis player of all time. Forget Margaret Court or Steffi or Evert, I’m just saying who’s better.“
He further stated that she could have been the biggest star with the strengths she had that even her sister didn’t but fell prey to the situations. He added, “She had long arms, she could jump higher than anyone on the WTA Tour, and she was the next Michael Jordan but she changed her game a little bit when she got into the pros.“
Rick Macci believes that Venus Williams might follow her sister’s path when she decides to retire from the sport

The 5-time Wimbledon champion was last seen at the US Open where she lost her first-round match. She had returned to action after a year at Wimbledon and played in the doubles category. Since her comeback, she had failed to make her presence for a longer duration at the tournaments.
Macci made a huge confession regarding Venus Williams‘ retirement plans. He believes that she might follow in her sister Serena Williams’ footsteps since they believe in making an influential mark when they bid adieu to the sport. He added “No insight, but she does the same roadmap as Serena and she’ll call it at the US Open because they’re gonna go out with a bang.“
She along with her sister Serena Williams are an undefeated pair in the finals of the Grand Slam tournaments. They both have won 14 doubles Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold medals. Venus played with her sister, the 23-time former American player for the last time at the US Open since it was the latter’s final tournament of her career.
