Tennis fans hit hard on Alexander Zverev after the German secured a near victory against 163rd-ranked Lukas Klein in the second round of the Australian Open.
Alexander Zverev, who has been in the news for alleged domestic abuse, had to contest hard for 4 and a half hours to beat his opponent Lukas at the John Cain Arena.
The match began well for the German when he won the first set 7-5, but the Slovakian star turned the table around by winning 6-3, 6-4 in the next two sets before Zverev edged on a tiebreak in the third set 7-6(5). It was the fifth set that settled the tie, as Zverev won 7-6 (7).
The match would go down as one of the greatest in this year’s Australian Open. However, following the Alexander Zverev win, fans and tennis lovers reacted on social media, alluding to the close contest and believing that Lukas did well to come out victorious.

Alexander Zverev reaches third round at the Australian Open after defeating Lucas Klein
Alexander Zverev defeated Slovakian qualifier Lukas Klein 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(7) to move into the third round after overcoming an almighty opponent in the Australian Open.
The German was in trouble following the pressure of World No. 163 after he won the first set. Lukas won the second and third sets in a flash before Zverev reacted in the last two sets. The game was finished under the roof of John Cain Arena due to the rain.
I would have much rather won in an hour-and-a-half but what can I do. He played incredible, was hitting every ball as hard as he could from both sides. I didn't really know what to do a lot of the times. To be honest, he probably deserved to win more than me. That's how tennis goes sometimes. I'm happy that I'm through but his ranking is no value to how he's playing.Zverev said after the game.
The 25-year-old Klein, who has been inconsistent in his form the past few years, has been to one Grand Slam event (Wimbledon 2022) in the last two years. The Slovakian was itching for a top-10 victory but squandered the chance to break at 4-4 in the fourth set.
However, it was Klein’s mistakes that led to his disappointment; the qualifier made 83 unforced errors, compared to 36 from Alexander Zverev.
