The French Open women’s final match between Iga Swiatek and Karolina Muchova was an exciting affair that lasted 3 sets. Swiatek was a heavy favorite for this French Open as a defending champion. And she delivered. Her form and consistency in 2023, have been backed by many titles, finals, and great performances across all months.
No wonder she came to French Open as a heavy favorite and won the finals with her calm panache while taking down one opponent after the other. Karolina Muchova herself had a great unexpected run in the French Open. Being told by doctors a while back she won’t be able to play tennis professionally to reach the French Open final was a big personal feat for the Czech.
Though the first set an Iga Swiatek show of talent, the second set was more equally balanced in terms of the competition. The second test was the real test. Though Iga broke Karolina’s first service game, Muchova was quick to answer her back. The Czech broke Swiatek’s third service game and took the second set score to 3-2. Both players held their service games till the score was 4-4.

The ping pong in the second set continued as Iga got the break back but yet again Muchova broke her taking the second set score to 6-5. Then Muchova kept her nerve while she served for the set and set the final for an exciting third set.
The third set was an intense competitive affair with both players breaking each other several times. Fans had their hearts in their mouth as till the last service game of Muchova’s it was not sure who would win.
Winning the 3rd title in 4 years is a big feat in women’s tennis, even for an athlete like Iga Swiatek. She understood the significance of winning this tight match and the championship. Her emotions were evident as she let out her tears as soon as she won the tough match.
