The 22-time Grand Slam title champion, Rafael Nadal, is in quite a pickle as his opponent, Jordan Thompson, quickly recovered and got back on his feet to clinch an almost sealed second set in the quarter-final clash at the Brisbane International.

After winning the first set 7-5, the 14-time French Open champion was looking to close the match in the second set with a straight-set victory, but his opponent had different plans.

After conceding three break points to the Spanish, the Australian tennis player quickly saved all three match points in an incredible comeback to stay in the game and win the second set.

Tennis fans and followers brutally trolled the former World No. 1 for not being able to convert his match points into a victory. One particular fan commented on the situation and took a sly dig at Rafael Nadal’s fans.

The Spaniard is making a much-awaited comeback to the sport after almost a year, and his excellent run at the Brisbane Open has proved to tennis followers that he still has the capability to have a good run at the Grand Slam this year.

He has time and has stated that this will most probably be his last and farewell season on Tour, and he is just happy to be able to compete at the highest level for one final time.

His return to the sport with his participation in the Brisbane International has proved to be successful so far, having reached the quarterfinals. However, his on-going clash with the Australian tennis player, Jordan Thompson, is proving to be a challenge for the Spaniard. 

The Australian recovered quickly and quite strongly in the second set by saving three match points. He worked hard in the tiebreak to extract each point from the 22-time Grand Slam champion and, in the end, forced the match to go into a final deciding set.
