Austrian player Dominic Thiem faced a major setback when he suffered a wrist injury in 2021 that kept him out of action for almost 14 months. He didn’t have a good year due to a lack of form, despite being considered one of the great competitors to the Big-3 players. With just two months left on the calendar, he hopes to make a strong comeback in 2023 and set new goals for himself.

The former World No. 3 last played at the Vienna Open, where he was defeated in the second round by Daniil Medvedev. After losing in his home tournament, he released an official statement about his decision to call off the 2022 season. Thiem admitted that it had been quite a tough two years where he has been looking to make an impact.

The 2020 US Open champion released a statement on social media where he confessed his upcoming goals. He admitted that he wishes to arrive in style in the coming year like a machine. A video from one of his training sessions surged on social where he can be seen training extremely hard to strengthen his fitness ahead of the 2023 season. He first jumps on a bench and then runs up to a hill with a tennis racquet in his hands.

He had been looking for signs to perform well with some remarkable performances, but did manage to reach the semifinals of the Gijon Open and European Open, and a few other quarterfinals on the ATP circuit. After starting the year with rankings beyond 300, he ended his year after successfully entering the Top 100 ATP rankings.
