Just before her anticipated comeback, Naomi Osaka has found herself trolling social media again. Chinese player Qinwen Zheng recently revealed how Wim Fissette left her team in order to get back with Osaka.

Osaka and Fisette had a successful partnership for almost two years, which led to the Japanese winning two Grand Slams: the 2020 US Open and the 2021 Australian Open. In June of last year, the player-coach duo separated, which created a lot of controversy. However, Osaka cleared the air by saying, “We didn’t part on bad terms.” (via WTA Insider)

Earlier this year in June the Belgian coach partnered with Zheng but now after just a few months, he had left Zheng in the middle of the ocean, alone. Expressing her distress she stated, “He broke the contract. This is very immoral. I understand his decision, but my family and I feel hurt. Right now, I don’t want to talk about this person.” (via Daily Express)

Osaka is planning to make a comeback at the Australian Open next year. The last event in which she played was the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. After that, she went on a hiatus. This year, in January, she announced her pregnancy and stated that she would make a comeback on the professional tennis circuit in 2024.

Osaka who is otherwise considered a fan favorite due to her goofy and shy nature, has come under severe backlash ever since Zheng made the revelation. Netizens did not hold back from calling Osaka and Fissette’s duo immoral. Several people went as far as to call Osaka a thief by stealing Fissette from the Chinese player.
