It has not been a day and things are already heating up at the 2023 Australian Open. Teen stars Emma Raducanu and Coco Gauff clinched their opening-round wins to set up a crunch second-round match.

Raducanu was up against Australian Open debutant and World No. 161 Tamara Korpatsch. Raducanu recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win on the 1573 Arena as she makes it to the second round yet again. Gauff, who opened the Rod Laver Arena this year, won her tie against doubles specialist Katerina Siniakova taking a 6-1, 6-4 win.

Both the teens finished the match at nearly the same time. The 2021 US Open winner won in 1 hour and 25 minutes while Gauff won in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Gauff is the seventh seed this year and with Raducanu ranked outside the Top 70, the two teens are locked in for a second-round clash.

Both Emma Raducanu and Coco Gauff were finalists at the 2021 US Open. While the Briton was in singles, the American was in doubles alongside Caty McNally. The endings were different as Raducanu won the title and Gauff finished runner-up. Coco suffered a similar fate in the 2022 French Open. Having reached the finals in both singles and doubles, she failed to win any of those.

With the two teens having shown their talent and potential, tennis fanatics are eager for the first-ever meeting between these two. Twitter was overflowing with reactions to the match and below are a few of them.

With a day’s rest expected, Gauff and Raducanu will clash on Day 3. With the two quite popular, Tennis Australia might move the match to Rod Laver or one of the big stadiums to get more fans for what promises to be a spectacle.
