As the Spanish World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz is not getting many daytime matches in the heated conditions of New York, tennis fans, mainly the ones of Novak Djokovic, have come up with accusations that the Spanish star is getting preferential treatment. The noise became louder on Twitter (Now renamed as X) when Djokovic was awarded a daytime match with Taylor Fritz in the daytime, and then Daniil Medvedev had to deal with the scorching sun and Andrey Rublev in another quarter-final match.

The quarter-final match between the current World No.1 and America’s World No.1 player was expected to be a prime-time match by the fans but according to Djokovic fans, the US Open was trying to give an advantage to Fritz since the older Serbian has historically faced issues playing in hot and humid conditions. But none of this thing stood out as the Serbian dispatched the American in straight sets later.

Despite all these and even Djokovic having the cushion of an easier draw this time, fans were mocking Alcaraz and the support he was receiving from the organizers. The Spanish World No.1 will play the Russian World No.3 Daniil Medvedev in a recap of the Wimbledon semi-finals here. That match will also be a night match. The tennis fans were using terms like “favorite kid” and “lucky guy” to accuse the Spaniard of getting preferences on his match time.
