Former Spanish World No.12 Feliciano Lopez, who is the current director of the Madrid Open, asks to move on from the incident in the women’s doubles final where the finalists were not given a chance to speak. The prestigious tournament’s way of handling the post-match presentation was criticized a lot by the tennis world and now, in a recent interview, Lopez has opened up on the same issue.

Speaking on the matter, Lopez said, “I won’t go into details. A decision was made which the tournament apologized for. It already happened. That decision was wrongly made, and forgiveness was asked. The only thing left to do is to move forward.”

Lopez is one of the closest friends of the Spanish legend Rafael Nadal on tour. The 35-year-old’s withdrawal tournament was initially decided to be in the Wimbledon this year but he did not get a wildcard entry there. Hence, the Mallorca Open became his last tournament where he lost in the third round.
