In a recent interview with the Relevo, tennis veteran Feliciano Lopez discussed a variety of tennis-related topics, including Novak Djokovic‘s reputation, the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) argument, and Rafael Nadal‘s much-awaited return to the courts. During the tennis talk, Lopez was asked about his pal Stefanos Tsitsipas‘ recent romantic engagement with Paula Badosa.
Lopez admitted openly, with a pleasant laugh, that he hasn’t had much time to discuss Tsitsipas’ new romance with him. They met briefly at Wimbledon and Mallorca, with little opportunity for in-depth discussions. Nonetheless, Lopez expressed his happiness for his friend and provided support for his recent relationship with Badosa.
“I don’t have much to say about it. I like people to be happy, my friends to be happy. He’s happy at this point in his life and I’m very happy for him. I hope they are well,” he said laughingly.
Lopez and Tsitsipas’ friendship extends beyond the tennis court. The two players previously collaborated in doubles, winning, and capturing a trophy. During that time, Tsitsipas openly praised Lopez as one of his rare fans on the Tour, emphasizing their strong relationship both on and off the court.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Feliciano Lopez forge strong friendship on and off the court

Stefanos Tsitsipas has not only been able to draw attention due to his on-court accomplishments but also for his improving relationships with his teammates. A few months ago, he discussed his difficulty in making friends on the tour, attributing it to a perceived reluctance among players to form personal relationships, maybe because of fears about spilling secrets that could be used against them during matches.
But Tsitsipas’ attitude has shifted recently, as he appears to have built a good friendship with his doubles partner, Feliciano Lopez. Both on and off the court, the two athletes’ connection has grown stronger. Their collaboration in the ATP Acapulco Open not only yielded a win in the men’s doubles tournament, but it also demonstrated the joy they had when playing together.
Tsitsipas’ change was highlighted in a Twitter thread that juxtaposes an earlier comment from 2020 describing his difficulty in building connections with a current snapshot of him and Feliciano Lopez displaying their friendship with a smiling emoticon. His professional life appears to have improved because of the change in his social circle. Having a close bond with Lopez has most likely made his tour trips less lonely and added a layer of support.
