Five-time champion Novak Djokovic confirms his return to Dubai Tennis Championship
Serbian star Novak Djokovic is set to join Rafael Nadal in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship in February who also confirmed his participation earlier.

Tennis star Novak Djokovic has confirmed his participation in the Dubai Tennis Championships, scheduled to take place at the end of February this year. The 35-year-old will compete alongside Rafael Nadal, who also announced his participation earlier. The duo’s participation is definitely going to make the tournament a success.
The 21-time Grand Slam champion has won the crown five times in the Middle Eastern event. Currently, Djokovic is in Melbourne to reclaim his Australian Open crown after a gap of one year. Djokovic expressed his excitement at the prospect of going back to Dubai.
“It’s always exciting to be back in Dubai. The Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships is a special event for me,” Djokovic announced. “I have a long history with the championship and have been fortunate to play some great matches in front of the crowd at Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium. I can’t wait to play there again,” he further expressed.
The event confirmed the announcement through its official Twitter handle. “It’s decided! Five-time Dubai champion and crowd favorite Novak Djokovic @djokernole will grace the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium next month,” the Tweet read.

Record nine-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic is the second big name to confirm his participation in the event. Rafael Nadal, his Spanish rival, had previously announced his return to the tournament. This will be the first time since 2008 that both top stars will grace the event together.
Nadal has skipped the tournament for the last 15 years as preferred the Acapulco Open in its place. Dubai Duty-Free CEO Colm McLoughlin was also excited about the news. “To have Novak and Rafa in the same field is very special and we look forward to another exciting two weeks of tennis,” he said.
Djokovic is a five-time champion in the event, and this year too he will be a favorite. Swiss legend Roger Federer is the most successful player in the event with a record of eight titles. The event is set to start on February 27.
