She also has the longest winning streak of 35 matches in the Open Era.

The sisters have played each other many times in the Grand Slam finals inclsuing a lot of the Wimbledon finals as well. For the first time since 1997, both the sisters will be absent from the championships. The Wimbledon is caught in a lot of turmoil this year after imposing a ban on Russian and Belarusian players. The professional tennis associations have stripped off Wimbledon of its ranking points and so, the prize money is also set to dip.

With all these factors a lot of players are not willing to participate in the tournament. Money would not be a concern for the Williams sister but no ranking points might be one of the reasons for their absence. It would also be important for them to considering their age to choose the tournament which would suit them the best.

Though the dynamic duo have not announced their retirement from the sport, given their age, it looks extremely difficult for them to be able to compete with the young forces on the tour. There has been some speculation about the sister’s comeback tour before their retirement, but it looks highly unlikely that this journey will begin in London. Their fomer coach Rick Macci is confident that the sisters would return on the tour before putting down their racquets for good.
