American ace Frances Tiafoe admits that he doesn’t remember about Carlos Alcaraz‘s victory over Daniil Medvedev to win the BNP Paribas Open last year. The Spanish star made fun of Frances’ claim on social media.
Last year, Alcaraz defeated Medvedev to win his first Indian Wells title in a 6–3, 6–2 victory in the final. The victory took the Spaniard back to World No.1 position after he had lost it to Novak Djokovic, who won the 2023 Australian Open.
On the Instagram story, Carlos Alcaraz shared a video of him arriving at Indian Wells. In the video, he was seen following a security man. He stopped to take a picture of a photograph of himself and Elena Rybakina (the two winners of the 2023 Indian Wells Masters), with a nice caption.
Happy to be back! @bnpparibasopen
In the comment section, American tennis player Frances Tiafoe reacted that he couldn’t remember that Carlos Alcaraz won the title last year.
I don't remember you winning, bro.Tiafoe commented
Alcaraz replied:
Hahaha, me neither, that's why I took a picture of the photo.
Carlos Alcaraz was a major doubt in the Indian Wells Masters following his ankle twist at the Rio Open, but surprisingly, the Spanish star looks well and strong to defend his title.
Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal exhibition looks set in Vegas
Rafael Nadal‘s exhibition match against Carlos Alcaraz looks set for Las Vegas this weekend. One of the most anticipated games to be streamed on Netflix live has reached a high tempo with the latest news of Alcaraz full fit after an injury scare.
Nadal, who has featured only at the Brisbane International so far this season, would be looking at the contest as a good preparation for his Indian Wells tournament after a year away from the Masters competition.
Alcaraz has competed in three tournaments this season and is without any title. A shocking quarterfinal exit against Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open led to a semifinal exit at the Argentina Open. Willing to prove himself at the Rio Open, the 20-year-old star could not continue after twisting his ankle. Hoping to defend his title at Indian Wells, playing against a legend is a big preparation for him.
The MGM Resorts exhibition match between Alcaraz and Nadal in Las Vegas will be streamed on Netflix. Fans will still keep an eye on the BNP Paribas Open in nearby Indian Wells, California, which begins on March 6.
