Former US Open champion and British ace Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup Finals due to her persistent wrist injury. Raducanu was facing some niggles since the US Open but played a couple more tournaments. After suffering a tough loss to Daria Kasatkina in Ostrava, she decided to take a break and recover from injury.
She was supposed to recover in time for the BJK Cup finals but a week before the tournament announced that she won’t be taking part in this year’s event on home soil in Glasgow. She took to social media to express her sadness and backed her girls to bring home the cup for Great Britain.
“so sad to miss being a part of this amazing team in the upcoming BJKC! ? I am really sorry to miss all of you in Glasgow, I was so looking forward to playing on home soil in front of you?? I tried my best to be ready, next time! backing my girls & I’ll be with the team in spirit,” she wrote on social media.
She also assured everyone that she had been doing everything in her control to get ready for the Finals but her rehab didn’t go as planned and hence she is forced to make this tough call.
“It’s disappointing to get the news from the doctors that I won’t be ready in time, particularly with it being on home soil. I tried to do everything possible to get it ready in time, since the last tournament I’ve been working every day on physical training + rehab,” she said.

This isn’t the first time that Raducanu is withdrawing from a tournament. She has been very unlucky with injuries over the last few months and has been under a lot of scrutinies for the same due to her age.
