Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz has been extraordinary this season. He has shown exponential growth and started the year with a third-round outing at the Australian Open. He then won his first ATP 500 title in Rio before a semifinal outing at Indian Wells Masters where he lost to Rafael Nadal. He then followed it up by winning the Miami Open- his maiden Masters title. He then won a third title of the season at Barcelona and then followed it up with yet another Masters title at Madrid where he beat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in consecutive matches. In the opening round of the French Open, he defeated Juan Ignacio Londero in straight sets 6-4,6-2,6-0.

Things have been pretty mixed for Albert Ramos Vinolas way this season. He lost in the opening round of the Australian Open but bounced back with a title triumph at the Cordoba Open. He then made it to the semifinal of the Chile Open but lost his opening match at the Miami Masters. In the European clay season, he reached the Round of 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters before losing in the second round of the Barcelona Open. He then made it to the semifinal of the Estoril Open but didn’t manage to win a single match in Madrid and Rome. He defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round of the French Open in 4 sets 6-4,4-6,6-4,7-6(5).

Carlos Alcaraz

Given the form in which Alcaraz is in, he might go all the way this year to win the French Open. He has shown some incredible hitting abilities and baseline play and is one of the strongest players on the tour. Ramos-Vinolas will have to play his best tennis and hope that Alcaraz isn’t at his best in order to have any chance of coming close. Expect an easy outing with Alcaraz making it to the third round.

Prediction: Alcaraz to win in straight sets.
