20-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic has finally peaked at the right moment. He had his share of bad luck at the start of the season where he was denied entry into Australia due to his vaccination status and hence was forced to skip the Australian Open. He then played the Dubai Tennis Championships where he lost in the quarterfinals.

He started his clay season with an opening match loss at Monte Carlo but followed it up with a runner-up finish at the Serbia Open. He made it to the semifinals at Madrid and then won his 38th Masters title at Rome ahead of the French Open.

Yoshihito Nishioka had a decent start to the season but has lost all momentum. After bowing out of the first round of Australian Open, he won the Columbus Challenger and then made it to the final of the Cleveland Challenger. As a qualifier, he reached the quarterfinal of the Mexican Open and then made it to the third round of the Miami Masters. He has played four clay-court tournaments this year but is yet to win a main draw match.
