Carlos Alcaraz won the 2nd round encounter against Taro Daniel in a tricky encounter. After the match was level at 1 set all, the Spaniard kept his focus to win the match in 4 sets. The score line of the match was 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. 

The Spaniard has been in good form lately and is playing at the French Open in 2023 after having a good run in the ongoing clay court swing. The world number 1 had won the Madrid Masters by defeating German Jan Lennard Struff in a 3-set encounter.
