22-time Grand Slam singles champion Novak Djokovic is once again in the French Open finals. Up against World No. 1 and favorite Carlos Alcaraz, Djokovic won the match 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. The match had an anti-climatic end as Alcaraz injured himself at the start of the third set. As a result, his movement was restricted as he continued to deal with cramps.

The win takes him into his seventh Roland Garros final looking for his third title on the Parisian clay. History also stands on line for Djokovic as the title would see him take the lead for most Majors won by any man with 23 to his name. It would also mean that he becomes the only man to have won all four Grand Slam events thrice. With a lot at stake for the record-chasing Serb, the final will definitely see him bring his best possible version.

Casper Ruud is back in the French Open finals as he destroyed Alexander Zverev in the second semi-final. The Norwegian star earned a well-deserved 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 victory over the German to reach back-to-back finals in Paris. Although he lost to Rafael Nadal last year, this year’s challenge is no different as Djokovic awaits him in the finals.

Ruud’s clay court prowess is well known and this could be a big chance for him to earn the biggest Clay title. Having played three four setters in his six matches in the fortnight, he surely knows how to continue fighting. The experience of last year’s final followed by the loss in the 2022 US Open would have definitely made the 24-year-old mentally ready for a Major final which could certainly help him in the title decider.

In the four matches that Djokovic and Ruud have clashed in, Nole leads 4-0. Surprisingly, Ruud is yet to win a single set against the Serb in all of their meetings so far.

It will be a tricky affair to predict as both players have a good record on Clay. Casper Ruud is 17-5 on the surface for the season while being 207-92 across his career. Djokovic will take the court with an 11-3 record on the surface this season with a 198-40 record in his career.

Both the players have been tested this French Open but neither have played the fifth set wrapping it earlier. However, for the purpose of prediction, it does look like Djokovic will be the one lifting the trophy owing to his better experience and ability to dictate terms better than Ruud.

Match Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in 4 sets
