Two-time Grand Slam winner Garbine Muguruza played her last match at the Lyon Open earlier this year. However, following her first-round exit, the player decided to go on a hiatus from the sport. She has not played a single match on the professional court ever since. Recently, Muguruza revealed that she does not intend on returning to the court anytime soon.
Muguruza took a break from tennis following a string of poor performances in several tournaments. She lost all 4 matches she played earlier this year in the month of January. In July this year, the player expressed her desire to be back on court in 2024. More recently though, the former World No.1 seems to have extended her break according to what she revealed in her latest interview.
In a conversation with Women’s Health Magazine, Muguruza revealed plans about her potential return to tennis anytime soon. “As of today, I have no intention of returning to competition. My plan right now is to sleep, rest, be with my loved ones, and recover lost time,” the former French Open winner stated. “I don’t see beyond what I’m doing today, tomorrow, and this week,” she said further.
Muguruza told the magazine that she continues to follow her colleagues and can play tennis sometimes for fun rather than an intensive match. “I’m truly taking a break and trying to stay away from the courts,” she added. The 2017 Wimbledon champ got engaged to her fan, Arthur Borges, a few months ago. Her recent revelation about not making a return came in as a huge blow to her fans, who were eagerly waiting for the player to make a comeback.

Garbine Muguruza marked her attendance at the San Sebastian International Film Festival
Spanish-Venezuelan tennis star Garbine Muguruza recently stole the spotlight at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. She marked her attendance at the event with her fiance, Arthur Borges. The festival went on from September 22 to September 30. The couple were, however, spotted on the very last day as they attended the closing gala of the festival.
Muguruza wore a beautiful Dior outfit with a mini hand purse and matching rind to steal the show. Her fiance, on the other hand, wore a simple brown suit, and the couple looked flawless. The Festival bore witness to a number of brilliant events, one of which was the ’The Rye Horn’ winning the Golden Shell. It became the first film directed by a female Spanish director to win the said award.
