“What a battle”- Germany cruises into the finals of United Cup following an epic victory against Australia in mixed doubles

Team Germany won a hard-fought battle over their Australian opponents to cruise their way into the finals of the United Cup tournament in Perth, Australia.
The Alexander Zverev-led German team earlier reached the semi-finals when the 2020 US Open finalist defeated Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.
More recently, the World No. 7 avenged his defeat to Alex De Minaur and staged an epic comeback to clinch the deciding mixed doubles clash against team Australia to earn a spot in the championship round of the tournament.
The German team shattered all hopes for Team Australia in their incredible United Cup run after the mixed doubles pair of Alexander Zverev and Laura Siegemund defeated their opponents, Matt Ebden and Storm Hunter, in a 2-1 victory in a must-win match for them.
Team Australia pulled off an absolute stunner when Alex De Minaur stepped up to defeat Alexander Zverev to force a deciding mixed doubles clash for a seat in the championship round of the event.
The United Cup serves as a preparatory and warm-up event before the Australian Open begins in mid-January.
Team Germany will face Poland in the finals of the United Cup
Germany is all set to face Poland for the United Cup title after they played an intense semi-final mixed doubles against Australia to triumph in an epic 28-point tiebreak.
All eyes will be on how well Alexander Zverev performs in the finals, as the team will surely expect their best and top-ranked player to help them pave the way towards victory.
The German tennis player will next fly to Melbourne to be a part of the upcoming Australian Open, as he will try to make a better comeback this year after having not had such a great 2023 season on Tour.
