Taylor Fritz, the 24-year-old American is one of the biggest prospects in the world of tennis right now, ranked as high as world number 13, Fritz is one of the world’s best players at the moment. Currently competing at the Cincinnati Masters event, Fritz has enjoyed good form in the tournament as of right now. He defeated Sebastian Baez in the event’s first round and Nick Kyrgios in the second round.
Novak Djokovic’s situation of competing at the US Open has been a hot topic for quite a few weeks now, the Serbian refuses to change his stance over the Covid-19 vaccine, and due to that his entry into the US has been barred which wont enable him to compete at the tournament.

Fans call out Taylor Fritz over comments on Novak Djokovic
Taylor Fritz has become the latest player who commented on Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic’s vaccine situation, Fritz commented on how Novak Djokovic might miss the US Open despite the CDC rule changes, the American professional also joked about how it would be good for players if the Serb did not participate.
in his post-match press conference, Fritz said, We’re not the most COVID-safe country in general with how we are doing things. So it does seem like what’s the harm of letting the best player in the world come to play the US Open? But at the same time, I don’t know how I feel about making exceptions just for one person just because of who they are. So I see both sides of the argument. It’s good for every player if Novak is not in the draw (smiles).”
These statements did not go down well with Djokovic’s fans, one of the fans took to Twitter to call out Taylor Fritz and made a thread on how players want Novak Djokovic missing as many tournaments so other players can have a shot at winning. One of the fans made a tweet saying, “This is the reason why so few players are publicly supporting him and why of course the establishment don’t want him to play… the know if he plays he wins.“
Taylor Fritz took notice of this tweet and decided to reply by saying, “Nothing new just me getting ripped for making a joke about Novak being better than everyone. The issue with press transcripts is it’s just raw text and it’s not clear the manner in how things are said. What I jokingly said, felt like a compliment to Novak more than anything else.”
Taylor Fritz recently defeated Nick Kyrgios at the Cincinnati Open and is now scheduled to face Andrey Rublev in the round of 16 fixture of the tournament.
