“Good job” Jessica Pegula’s billionaire father and Buffalo Bills owner might not be in her players’ box but admires her tennis from afar

The American star, Jessica Pegula is having the US Open run of her dreams. She defeated two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, 6-3, 6-2, to secure a place in the quarterfinal of her home grand slam. Pegula will now face the No. 1 seed, Iga Swiatek in the final 8 fixture.

After the match with Kvitova, Jessica Pegula enthusiastically asked the crowd in the stadium if there were any bill fans in the crowd. She was referencing NFL’s Buffalo Bills which is owned by her parents Kim and Terry Pegula. Pegula is a three-time grand slam quarterfinalist. She also reached the doubles final at the 2022 French Open with her partner Coco Gauff.

I don’t mind missing the game if I’m still playing: Jessica Pegula comments on Buffalo Bills’ first season game amidst her US Open run

Jessica Pegula is going to have one of the most important matches of her season against Polish star Swiatek. While talking about the Buffalo Bills‘ first game of the season she said, “I don’t mind missing the game if I’m still playing. It’s going to be a tough game.”

Pegula also mentioned her father, Terry Pegula and his absence in her players’ box. She added, “A lot of people from Buffalo that are kind of all over the place, you always find somebody that’s a Bills and Sabres fan. He just tells me ‘good job. He likes to give his little recap of the match or what the opponent was doing. He might enjoy watching at home kind of it not be so stressful. Honestly, I have my brother and sister here already. I don’t really know if I made it to the final, let’s say, if he would come necessarily. We’ll see.”

Her parents also own Sabres of the National Hockey League. After struggling with post-surgery recovery, Pegula is back on her feet better than ever. She’s hitting the ball much harder and serving well but needs work on her return game. It’ll be interesting to see her US Open run now that the big games are here.
