Novak Djokovic‘s coach Goran Ivanisevic hits out at players mocking his player’s injury in Australia. By the looks of it, these are intended to be an indirect dig to the second-round opponent of the Serbian World No.1 in the Australian Open 2023 – the french player Enzo Couacaud who raised some concerns over the severity of Djokovic’s hamstring injury.
As Ivanisevic said, “From what I know, there will be a documentary about his journey, his injuries, and everything else. In the end, it’s his business, no one else’s. Everyone handles injuries and comments in the media differently. What I find incredible is that little-known players are commenting, instead of remaining silent and being happy to have been able to win a few games against him.”
Apart from Enzo Couacaud, there were some other players also who raised concerns about the ability of the Serbian to win Grand Slam tournaments with a tear in the hamstring. This is not the first time that the Serbian has been mocked for faking his injuries. Last month, Djokovic had said that he will reveal the medical reports of the injury sustained in Australia during a press conference in Serbia but he didn’t show any. Though the medical reports are considered to be personal, the tennis world was looking forward to his announcement. (Source: We love Tennis, translated via Google)

Novak Djokovic denied entry to USA, will miss the sunshine double
The Serbian superstar will miss the sunshine double (Indian Wells and Miami Masters) tournaments due to his non-vaccinated status. This also put his world No.1 rankings at stake as the current World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz will play both of these tournaments coming back from the hamstring injury sustained during the Rio Open last month.
Djokovic was expecting a medical exemption to play these ATP-1000 tournaments in the USA but there was no green signal or change in policies by the Government of the USA. Neverthless, the Serbian will be able to play the US Open this year as the country’s covid vaccine mandates are expected to be scrapped completely later this year.
Djokovic will be eyeing the clay court swing and a possible peak at the French Open now. With the best clay court player Rafael Nadal still not ready to compete after the hip injury sustained during the Australian Open, the clay court season is expected to be wide open this year.
Being out of the top 10 in the world rankings after 18 long years, the tournament draws will be harder for Rafael Nadal starting from the earlier rounds. With the situation as of now, there are even chances of a potential pre-quarterfinal showdown between Djokovic and Nadal at the earliest in the Parisian Clay.
