Grigor Dimitrov opened up about his great friendship with Serena Williams after his win against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals of the Miami Open. The Bulgarian produced another top performance to beat Zverev 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4 two days after upsetting Carlos Alcaraz.
In what has been looking like a promising 2024 season for Dimitrov, after winning the Brisbane International in January. He has reached three finals this season and five semifinals in seven tournaments he has played this year. He will be playing in his third Masters 1000 final in Miami and has also ensured a No. 9 position in the ATP rankings.
However, the highlight of Dimitrov’s wins was the attendance of Serena Williams. The American legend came to watch her friend Dimitrov as he defeated Zverev. The Bulgarian claimed that the pep talk given to him by Williams was of immense help in his win against Zverev.

Dimitrov will face Jannik Sinner in the finals for the Miami title battle. Both players are in top form and have the opportunity to earn their first Masters of the season. Regardless of that, Sinner seats as favorite but Dimitrov would be hoping for upset like he did against Alcaraz.
Serena Williams has been there for Grigor Dimitrov since his first Top-10 win
Grigor Dimitrov added during his interview with Tennis Channels that Serena Williams has been a friend for the major part of his career. Dimitrov also mentioned that his friendship with Williams means so much to him. The Bulgarian revealed that she was in attendance when he earned his first top-10 win in 2012.
I remember she was there when I had my first top-10 win. It was a very nice moment. I think we both remember that. It's friendship, man. I think this is the best part. Tennis is tennis, but, you know, we are all living our dreams right now. The Bulgarian was in tears at the Rolex Paris Masters when Novak Djokovic defeated him, however, things have changed since then for the 32-year-old. He has won Brisbane International and has reached three finals this season, the latest at the Miami Open.
