The most anticipated Rolex Shanghai Masters is well underway with its quarterfinal matches coming to an end. There have been many great matches throughout the tournament with players upsetting the top-ranked players and advancing on. Grigor Dimitrov, one such player who is seeded as number 18 in the tournament has showcased his advancement in the game and reached his 9th Master’s semi-finals.
In a thrilling clash between Dimitrov and Nicolas Jarry, both the players were at the top of their game in the first set with the Bulgarian pushing through and taking the set to his name. With that momentum, he easily took the second set as well as the match. With this win, he advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament.
“It helped a lot. It helps confidence-wise but also it’s just another match, We don’t really have much time to think about that. But of course, I take all the positives from it. You need to feed off this every single round. Things are good. I need to keep on going,” said Dimitrov in the post-match interview. When he was talking about how his win over Carlos Alcaraz gave him confidence.

After his thrilling win at the Shanghai Open, Dimitrov spoke about his confidence and mentality before heading on to his 9th Master’s semifinals.”I don’t need to put any pressure on myself. I’ve been here quite a few times in a Masters SF. I’ve won 1. So at the same time, I’m comfortable. I like these moments. I’m happy to be in these moments. It’s a privilege for me to be in these moments,” said Dimitrov in the post-match interview.
After a season of inconsistent performance, this has arguably been one of his better seasons and the victory against Carlos Alcaraz stands out as his best performance. Enhancing this, the Bulgarian dug his way to the semifinals where he is considered as a huge contender to win the tournament.
The Shanghai Masters have always had a rich history of memorable moments and the fans would be waiting to see the new Shanghai Open winner to be announced. A win would look good for Grigor’s run and would surely give him more confidence.
