Grigor Dimitrov became the next player to keep it quiet regarding Alexander Zverev’s election into the player’s council despite his physical abuse charges.
Despite the backlash from players like Casper Ruud and Cameron Norrie for keeping quiet, Dimitrov chose to follow their lead.
While the charges on the German were placed a while ago, it was only very recently revealed that he was set to go to trial for the same. However, when the Bulgarian was questioned regarding the same, he chose to keep quiet.
When asked if it was appropriate to let the former World No. 2 keep serving on the player’s council, Dimitrov had a diplomatic answer.

Dimitrov admitted that he was prone to stay away from the press in general. However, he also explained that it was not only up to him to decide who should stay on the council.

With the German’s news of a trial circulating the tennis circuit, many other players were asked about the same. Some players, like Iga Swiatek, were open about their disagreement with his promotion.
However, others, like Casper Ruud and Cameron Norrie, decided to stay diplomatic about the whole situation. This earned them severe backlash from tennis audiences worldwide.

When further questioned about the German’s presence in the player’s council, Dimitrov revealed that it would be best to hold a detailed discussion before deciding anything.
I think this is a matter that I think everyone needs to sit down and together and discuss all of that.Said the Bulgarian.
The former World No. 3 admitted that if any action needs to be taken, it needs to involve a detailed discussion amongst the council.
Of course now these things coming through, personally, I didn't know. So, I am sure if you ask all the other guys, it's something that if it's needed, I guess we all need to sit down and talk about it.He concluded.
With that being said, it seems like the tennis professional was very clear that this would be the message he would like to share with all the involved parties.
