Grigor Dimitrov suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the final of the Paris Masters at Accor Arena on Sunday. The Serb defeated the Bulgarian pro 6-4, 6-3 to lift a record-extending 7th title in Paris and 40th Masters title overall. Djokovic also closed his gap to Jimmy Connors in terms of career singles titles, standing at 97 titles.
Playing just his second career Masters final, Dimitrov was overcome by emotions after the loss. The 32-year-old sunk his head into his hands and had to be consoled by Djokovic during the on-court interview. The Bulgarian was chasing his first tour-level title since 2017. This was his second final defeat of the season.

Dimitrov’s ex-girlfriend Madalina Ghenea congratulated the Bulgarian for a fairly successful run in Paris. Sharing an Instagram story, the Romanian actress tagged the World No.14 and captioned the post, “Proud of you!”. Here’s the screenshot of the story shared by her :

The pair broke up last month after Dimitrov was allegedly cheated on by the actress. Their first appearance was at the Madrid Open earlier this year, where Ghenea was seen cheering on Dimitrov from his player box. The couple were spotted various times at public events and were seen vacationing together as well.
Grigor Dimitrov runs out of words of praise for Novak Djokovic
Bulgarian pro Grigor Dimitrov ran out of words of praise for 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic post his defeat in the final of the Paris Masters on Sunday. Speaking during the on-court interview, Dimitrov remarked,
Novak congrats. I don’t know what to say man. I’m running out of words. Honestly congrats for another amazing week to you and your team. My team, my guys, we’ve had a blast. Thank you to everyone in the box. It’s been an amazing journey this year. Completing another year on such a high note. I’m very pleased with that.

The 32-year-old has a dismal head-to-head record against the Serb, managing just one win in 12 attempts. Djokovic is on a 10-match win streak against Dimitrov and found it relatively easy against him in last night’s encounter.
But the Bulgarian can take inspiration from his last month’s performance heading into the next season. The former World No.3 has managed 4 wins against top-10 opponents over the last month, including against Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.
