Bottom Half

Jelena Ostapenko

8th seeded Veronika Kudermetova is likely to meet Donna Vekic following her first round bye whereas Jelena Ostapenko, also with a bye, could set an encounter with Eugenie Bouchard provided the Canadian can defeat her yet to be known opponent who’ll come through the qualifiers.

Danielle Collins and Yulia Putintseva both await their round 1 opponents but look certain for a round 2 encounter. Marta Kostyuk and Aliaksandra Sasnovich go head-to-head in the first round with the winner gifted a second round meeting with 4th seeded Maria Sakkari who gets a bye.

7th seeded Daria Kasatkina is likely to take on Alize Cornet having received a bye in the first round. Anna Kalinskaya meets 9th seeded Barbora Krejcikova with the Czech looking the favourite. Elsewhere, Kaia Kanepi takes on Liudmila Samsonova with the winner set to take on 2nd seeded Aryna Sabalenka.

2nd Semi-Final Prediction: Jelena Ostapenko vs Daria Kasatkina

Semi-Final

Daria Kasatkina
Daria Kasatkina

Pegula and Gauff, the usual doubles partner, have met only once in singles with the win going to Pegula earlier this season. With both players in great form, this could well be the potential final.

On the other hand, Ostapenko and Kasatkina have met 6 times with the Latvian leading 4-2. However with Kasatkina’s better form this season, the Russian could well close the gap if she plays to her strength.

Guadalajara Open 2022 Final: Jessica Pegula vs Daria Kasatkina

Final

Jessica Pegula - 3rd seeds at the Guadalajara Open 2022
Jessica Pegula

Pegula and Kasatkina have met just once on the Tour with the win going in the American’s favour. Kasatkina, despite her better moments, looks the second favourite for this clash and Pegula, unlucky on couple of instances this season, could eventually get her due and take the big title home.
